Hosted Sessions
For Focus 2010 we are delighted to have full scientific sessions hosted by two of the Corporate Members.

Abbott Diagnostics will host a session on the Wednesday on kidney disease, something that continues to exercise the medical fraternity. With between 6 and 20% of all acute hospital admissions and 30% of all ITU patients developing some degree of acute kidney injury and an estimated 10% of the ageing population progressing to some form of chronic kidney disease, renal disease continues to present a major challenge. During this session, the roles of both established and emerging renal biomarkers and how they contribute to improving patient management will be reviewed.

On the Thursday Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics will host a session on POCT for cardiac markers reporting a multicentre study. This will deal with the future of chest pain diagnosis including both diagnosis and rapid stratification of ACS patients as well as touching on the next generation of assay sensitivity which will be a challenge to both clinicians and the laboratory.
